How To Treat For Diabetes
The disease diabetes is a big complication for many people who are affected with type 2 diabetes the poor living conditions inactivity and weight concerns are also some of the concerns on another side. We are in a serious epidemic as the cases of diabetes have increased from 180 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014.
Although there are many people who think wrongly about this disease, people do not know that type 2 diabetes cases can be reversed. I know you're surprised, yes type 2 diabetes can be cured.
In this article, What is type 2 diabetes? From the question to the physiology of type 2 diabetes, from the causes of type 2 diabetes to how much is the treatment of type 2 diabetes, I will address and answer the question.
If you're ready, here we go!
What is type 2 diabetes?
With uncontrolled blood sugar type, 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease that is the reason for insulin poor resistance. A closely related disease with lifestyle and nutrition is often preventable, unlike type 1 diabetes.
Almost 90% of diabetes cases are caused by type 2 diabetes. That's why we're leaning towards this point.
Type 1 diabetes is defined as the body's inability to produce insulin as a result of the body's autoimmune response—that is, attacking the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas.
The reason for this, type 1 diabetes is frequently a preventable and irreversible disease (research on this subject continues).
How does type 2 diabetes occur?
Type 2 diabetes, unlike type 1 diabetes, does not have an issue with insulin production. It starts with a decrease in the body's insulin response due to the effect of poor lifestyle and nutrition, which results in excess weight.
We call this reduced insulin response insulin resistance. After ongoing insulin resistance, your blood sugar stays high and your body releases more insulin, forcing it to lower blood sugar.
Your insulin-producing cells, which start to work more, begin to disappear by a mechanism that is not entirely clear. This indicates that diabetes is on the rise.
Symptoms of type 2 diabetes
I share the symptoms of type 2 diabetes with you only as a guide. Please see your doctor if you have any concerns regarding type 2 diabetes.
Excessive thirst: High blood sugar causes you to produce more urine. This causes you to lose more fluid and become more thirsty to replenish that fluid.
Frequent fatigue: If your cells cannot take glucose through insulin, they cannot produce enough energy. This makes you feel tired.
Blurred vision: High blood sugar enables fluid to be pulled from our eyes' lenses. As the liquid level changes, the density of the lens also changes, and the density and refraction of the lens also change. The result is blurred vision.
There is actually something much better to do about type 2 diabetes. It's blood sugar control. Because blood sugar control gives you a serious and clear answer instead of these symptoms that may occur for many other reasons.
The blood sugar control you can have at any pharmacy is enough for us. Let me tell you how to get this check done.
First of all, there are three different test methods with hunger, satiety, and sugar loading tests. I suggest looking at fasting blood sugar, as you can apply it with a simple fingertip blood test.
We need a night's fast to start. You should fast for about eight hours throughout the night and have your blood sugar checked in the morning without eating anything.
If your fingertip blood sugar value,
- If 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) is normal,
- 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) is prediabetic, that is, prone to diabetes,
- If it's 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L), you probably have diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes and treatment
We have finally come to the main purpose of the article. Under this title, I will not talk about the medical treatment of type 2 diabetes and the continuation of a drug-dependent life with this treatment. Because this is out of my scope.
I would like to state that I certainly do not think that treatment is unnecessary. I point out that type 2 diabetes is reversible in selected individuals.
The subject I would like to talk about is to reverse type 2 diabetes in people who are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and still have the capacity to regulate sugar and make them healthy individuals.
In fact, I have talked about this subject piecemeal in many articles, but I did not collectively edit an article for people with type 2 diabetes. Achieving our main goals in solving chronic type 2 diabetes is actually enough to regress type 2 diabetes.
These are weight loss, breaking insulin resistance, and correcting other metabolic values.
There are many experiments and studies on this subject. I will explain my own program to you. In addition, you should definitely talk to your doctor about this issue and work in a coordinated way. These methods alone can be dangerous. Do you know how to treat amputation in diabetes
Diabetes management with diet and exercise
Diabetes treatment with nutrition
Nutrition is our first step. As we know that good nutrition can keep blood sugar under control, we can also reduce the fat rate of good nutrition and make cells more sensitive to insulin.
There are three different methods that should be used together with the researches done here. These are low-calorie intake, low carbohydrate intake, and long fasting period.
Our main goal is to reduce the amount of body fat with these three different nutritional approaches.
Extremely low-calorie intake is a method that I do not recommend in healthy individuals. But research shows that controlled, short-term administration of a low-calorie diet can regress diabetes in people with type 2 diabetes.
Research 1:
Thirty participants (25-80 years old, BMI: 27-45) individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes participate in the study to show the effect of a low-calorie diet on diabetes. Drinks are prepared for the participants to be fed three times a day, with a total of 624 to 700 calories per day, which is 43% carbohydrates, 34% protein, and 19.5% fat.
After consuming beverages for seven days, individuals switch to solid foods with a 624-700 calorie diet and enter the protection phase for six months.
At the end of six months, 43% of the participants stopped all blood glucose-lowering agents and their fasting blood glucose level was lower than 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L).
In fact, this shows that weight loss and a low-calorie diet, when done in a controlled way, can reverse diabetes in type 2 diabetics.
Another approach is to have a low-carb intake. Low carbohydrate intake is a very effective method for reducing insulin resistance and losing weight.
Research 2:
The effect of low-carbohydrate diets on the course of type 2 diabetes is investigated with a group of ten obese and type 2 diabetes patients.
Participants in the study are followed for two weeks with calorie amounts ranging from 3111 kcal/d to 2164 kcal/d (average calorie deficit of 737 kcal/d). Individuals at the end of two weeks,
- He lost an average of 1.34 kilograms,
- Average HA1c value decreased from 7.8% to 6.8%,
- Insulin sensitivity increased by 75%,
exists as. This shows us that low-carbohydrate diets can help reduce the need for medication in individuals with type 2 diabetes and can regress type 2 diabetes.
I have quite a few posts on this subject. The most important of those articles are the low carb or low fat? ketogenic diet guide, insulin resistance guide. Do you want to know regarding normal blood sugar levels?
Long fasting periods will help you lose weight and beat insulin resistance in a similar way to the other two diets. I shared studies and detailed information on this subject in the intermittent fasting guide.
Intermittent fasting should not be done under the influence of drugs that have an intense blood sugar lowering feature. This can cause severe blood sugar drops and be life-threatening.
Finally, you should design these nutrition styles for yourself and apply them with close follow-up. Nutritional regulation requires serious attention and responsibility. In addition, if you are diabetic and taking medication, your medication needs will change as soon as you change your diet.
For this reason, you should consult your doctor throughout this process and have your medication checked frequently. If you continue to eat right for long enough, your need for medication will likely decrease.
Diabetes treatment with exercise
As I mentioned under the title of type 2 diabetes treatment, we are trying to eliminate the causes of type 2 diabetes during the treatment process. We will also work to eliminate these causes during exercise. For this reason, our main goal is to burn more fat and create more insulin sensitivity.
Muscle mass is highly capable of inducing insulin sensitivity and has the most weight of insulin-sensitive tissues. For this reason, it is very important in reversing type 2 diabetes.
While pursuing these goals, we come across two main exercise options. The first is cardio and the second is weight training. I have suggestions for both.
Do you know how exercise raises the high blood sugar level
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) for cardio, and an intense pace from compound exercises for weight training.
HIIT is important in terms of increasing the energy need after training - we call it the afterburn effect - and increasing insulin sensitivity. Using compound exercises in weight training is important in terms of increasing muscle mass, increasing the insulin sensitivity of the existing muscle mass together with the increased muscle mass.
What is HIIT for research and detailed information on this subject? and compound vs isolated exercise.
Although exercise alone is not enough to reverse type 2 diabetes, it is very important to combine it with nutrition.
If you still have questions about how people with type 2 diabetes should exercise, the video below will help you.
Reverting diabetes: Conclusion
Type 2 diabetes is a very broad and serious disease. We know that we can save most of the individuals suffering from this serious disease, especially newly diagnosed ones, from type 2 diabetes with the right diet and exercise tempo.
Of course, first of all, you should discuss this issue with the doctor who is following you and act himself.
