Normal Levels Of HBA1c

When you are with type 2 diabetes, you will feel a lot of changes within a few weeks. You have to take action taking medicine and follow a strict diet. and also have to be under regular check-ups.

Glucose and hba1c values are included in this. As you are unaware of your medical background you will be in chaos with what all this means to you.

It is smart to read up on this disease and what a healthy HbA1c target value is. Probably you might be aware of blood sugar levels but the word HBA1c might sound mystic.

This will also make you stronger during your periodic checkups. After all, you know what a good HbA1c test result is and if you need to change your type 2 diabetes diet even more.

It is simple to draw the connection between sugar illness' and 'blood sugar level.'Both relate to something sweet. A glucose test detects the amount of sugar (also known as glucose) in your blood. This provides a fair indication of how severe your type 2 diabetes is.

In general, you can say:

The higher your blood sugar level is when you haven't eaten, the worse you are.

If your fasting blood sugar level is 7.0 mmol/L or higher, you have type 2 diabetes. Your glucose level should not be greater than 11.1 mmol/L if you have eaten.

While your blood sugar level provides a clear picture of your type 2 diabetes, it can also be skewed. When your finger is pricked for blood, you only measure the number of sugars in your body at that moment.

But how was your blood sugar level the previous week?

There's no telling how good your blood sugar was last week. You might be asking what's so awful about this.

It turns out that your blood sugar level might vary a lot from day today. Even from hour to hour. Exercising and eating a healthy diet might have an immediate impact on your glucose levels. When monitoring your blood sugar level, you have three options:

  • Your blood sugar levels provide an accurate picture of your type 2 diabetes.
  • Your blood sugar level paints an overly optimistic image because you did your best a week before the test.
  • Your blood sugar level gives a too negative picture because you ate very unhealthy a few days before the measurement

What exactly is HbA1c?

Your HbA1c number is therefore computed to prevent the doctor (and you) from obtaining the incorrect image of your type 2 diabetes. This number represents the average blood sugar level during the previous 8 to 12 weeks.

In this way, you are not immediately punished if you eat unhealthy for a day or you fall through the basket if you continuously eat unhealthily.

Although the word 'HbA1c' appears to be complex, it is actually fairly simple. Hemoglobin is represented by the letter 'Hb' in the term.

This is a different term for red blood cells. The 'A1c' portion of the name refers to a specific component of a red blood cell that is tested. To be more specific, the 'beta-N-1-deoxy fructose portion of a red blood cell.

Sugars cling to your red blood cells as they travel through your blood arteries. The more sugar in the system, the more sugar adheres to red blood cells.

Because red blood cells have a lifespan of 100 to 120 days, you may keep track of your average blood sugar level during the last three months. This has a far more accurate and clear picture of type 2 diabetes.

What is a healthy HbA1c value?

Until recently, everyone was officially a diabetic if the HbA1c value was higher than 48 mmol/mol (6.5%). But recently, nuance has been brought to this. The normal HbA1c value, according to the NHG, depends on your age and stage.

As you can see, your hba1c target value depends very much on your age and degree of type 2 diabetes. The elderly (over 70s) may have a higher hba1c value if they take several medicines in addition to metformin.

In general, you can say that the normal value is preferably below 53 mmol/mol. This corresponds to the 7.0% sugar saturation of red blood cells. As you can see, it is possible to express hba1c in both mmol/mol and percentage.

This automatically means that the more the value is below 53 mmol/mol, the healthier you are. The HbA1c value in healthy people is even below 42 mmol/mol. This equates to a blood sugar level of 6.0 mmol/L.This is the maximum you can have in your blood as a healthy person with a fasting glucose measurement.

Mmol/L, mmol/mol or a percentage?

If it's confusing to you what the difference is between mmol/L, mmol/mol, and percentages, I'll make it a lot easier for you.

Hba1c is calculated as a percentage or mmol/mol.

You don't need to know what it means chemically and biologically.

It's a technique of expressing how much sugar adheres to your red blood cells. The sugar level in your blood, on the other hand, is measured in millimol/L. This is the unit used when you 'have your blood drawn for sugars'.

Use the table below to interpret your HbA1c and glucose levels in different ways. In this way, calculating or converting your HbA1c value is not necessary:

#1 Improve your knowledge about nutrition

Unfortunately, most people are unaware of what healthy eating is. Although you probably know that a frikandel sandwich is not healthy, you probably could not answer the question of whether or not you can eat fruit as a diabetic. After all, fruit contains a lot of sugars .... right?

Or does it not matter that a product is high in sugar as long as it is a natural product?

These are all very good questions. But you also want answers to questions. Otherwise, your questions will never be answered and therefore pile up. The first step to get an HbA1c normal value is simple:

Immerse yourself in the matter

It may surprise you but it is relatively simple to cure type 2 diabetes with nutrition. Let alone improve your HbA1c level. You don't have to do much to realize this. You have to 'don't do a lot of things.

Broaden your knowledge about nutrition!

The first step to take is to buy a good book. You do not have to follow a university degree. A simple book like the Food Hourglass will give you enough information about type 2 diabetes. You will also learn what healthy eating is and what you should and should not eat to lower your blood sugar level.

#2 Eating more fat makes it better
All food on Earth consists of 3 simple building blocks:

  • Carbohydrates
  • fats
  • Protein
These are the three most important blocks of nutrition. You can do anything with this trio. From running marathons to building muscle mass. Food also contains important nutrients such as fiber, vitamins, and minerals, but these are not energy-rich. You need them purely to make the body run better.

If you want to lower your HbA1c test result, you will have to chronically lower your blood sugar level. Carbohydrates are nothing but lots of sugars stuck together. So it helps to eat less of this. Proteins can, if you eat a lot of them, be converted into sugars. So not eating too much protein can also help.

Sugar and insulin levels are not affected by fats
The best thing that can be done is to eat more fatty products.

Fat contains no sugars and cannot be converted into sugars. In addition, it is satiating.

This makes you less prone to binge eating. You will almost think that you should only eat fats ;).

Fats hba1c normal value

Don't worry about eating a lot of fats. You are not going to be fat eating fatty foods. Eating fat does not release insulin. This storage hormone is the main reason that people become fat.

#3 Stop buying light products
The best way to eat more fats is to cut back on light products. With light products, part of the fats is replaced by sugars because this is supposedly healthy.

However, research shows that we have all become incredibly fat since the 1970s. The starting point of the obesity and diabetes epidemic is the same starting point as the popularity of light products.

There is no reason to eat light products

When you remove fat from light products, it tastes very nasty. Just think of light cheese if you've ever eaten this. It doesn't taste like anything.

To prevent people from vomiting because of the bad taste, manufacturers add large amounts of sugars to light products. This gives it a little more flavor.

The problem, however, is that these sugars aren't friendly to your blood sugar. Especially not for your normal HbA1c value if you eat light products every day. Although light products are promoted as healthy, they are far away from healthy.

The greasy a product, the healthier it is for you. As said earlier your blood and insulin levels are not affected by fat. So never buy a light product. Your body will thank you for it.

#4 Be careful with the serving spoon
If you are thinking that a full plate is wrong you can see people enjoying 3 leaves of lettuce and a glass of water for dinner. Eating until you are full is not an unhealthy habit. What can make it unhealthy is what you eat yourself.

Around the world, there is one product group cheapest to eat. This is the most which people actually eat all over the world. You can fill your belly for relatively little money. I'm talking about the carbs. Think mainly of:

  • potatoes
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Flour
Whichever culture you look at, one of these 4 makes up the bulk of their plate. The problem is that all 4 carbohydrate sources above are very unhealthy.

They are full of carbohydrates and low in fiber. This makes them far from ideal. As a result, they raise your blood sugar level. Eat it daily and your HbA1c level will skyrocket.

The more fiber, the better your HbA1c normal value

It is best to go for the fiber-rich variant when you look at the above products. This is also known as the ' whole wheat ' variety.

Because it contains more fiber, your blood sugar level will be less high. Fiber ensures that the carbohydrates are released more slowly.

fiber sugar value
What's even better is to scoop up fewer carbs! Prevention is better than cure. Scooping up less of the whole-wheat variety is the best way to get an HbA1c normal.

Tip!

See that half of the plate is filled with vegetables. By this, I don't mean potatoes. I'm talking about real 'vegetables'. Then fill your plate with meat to your liking. And lastly, add the carbohydrate source. Since your plate is already quite full by then, you'll be forced to scoop fewer carbs. You will be thanked by your body for this.

#5 Eat like indigenous peoples
Did you know that type 2 diabetes and other prosperity diseases are virtually non-existent in indigenous populations? You know them. The type of people who live in the bushes somewhere in a faraway place.

Many population groups that have little or no contact with the Western world do not develop the diseases that we develop.

The main reason is that these people collect and cook "real" food. Now I have never been to the Amazon but I know one thing for sure:

You will not find a supermarket with processed and unhealthy food!

That automatically means that these peoples have to eat "real" food. The food they can grow, pick, catch, and so on. Nothing comes out of glittering packaging that is advertised.

The never advertised products are one of the healthiest on the planet. How often do you see a celebrity promoting broccoli?

Real food cures type 2 diabetes
Unprocessed food is full of fiber, moisture and contains relatively few carbohydrates. As a result, you will not eat much of it and your blood sugar level will not rise quickly/high.

In the short and long term, this is best for your type 2 diabetes and normal HbA1c levels.

Therefore, always ask yourself whether what you eat now can be found in nature in its current form.

If the answer is "no", then you better not eat it.

Pasta doesn't grow on top. You can't pick cookies. And packs of fruit juice don't run free in the wild. Therefore, do not bring it into your home.

#6 Provide structure in your life
Your normal HbA1c level is actually raised for only one reason:

You eat structurally quite unhealthy

Earlier you read that your HbA1c value is a reflection of your glucose level over the past 8-12 weeks. So it can't mean it's increased because you let yourself go for a few days.

To get an HbA1c level that is structurally healthy, you need to get more structure in your diet.

Most people rethink what they are going to eat every day. Breakfast is usually fixed. But at lunch and dinner, they go wrong. Because you want to be creative every day, you are much more likely to go wrong

If you plan your meal by 'feel', you will almost always prefer unhealthy products over healthy products.

Therefore, make a weekly schedule for yourself in which you decide what you are going to eat on which day. This allows you to prepare a healthy eating pattern for yourself in advance.

As a result, the chance is much smaller that you will have a cookie as a snack than for an apple. After all, you have already written down in advance that you are going to eat an apple. As a result, you can also only get healthy products at home.

Make a weekly schedule

If the product is not on your weekly schedule, you should not buy it. Practically it is easier to make a day '1' and a day '2'. Then you can eat alternately these days. It just depends on what you prefer. One wants more variety and the other wants a simple diet.

#7 Never worry about your HbA1c level again
You now know how to get an ideal HbA1c normal value. But how would you like to never have to worry about your HbA1c normal level again?

It has recently been discovered that it is possible to reverse type 2 diabetes. You can find the information here
